FAQs
How do I know if counselling is right for me?
Counselling is for anyone who wants support navigating life’s challenges, healing from past experiences, improving relationships, or better understanding themselves. You don’t need to wait until things feel overwhelming to reach out. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, burnout, or simply feeling stuck, counselling can provide a space to slow down, reflect, and move forward.
What can I expect from my first counselling session?
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, understand what brought you to counselling, and talk about what you hope to gain from therapy. We will discuss your experiences, strengths, goals, and what support might be most helpful. There is no pressure to share anything before you feel ready — counselling is a process built on trust and safety.
What types of concerns do you support?
At Paper Planes Wellness, we support individuals navigating a wide range of experiences, including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship challenges, life transitions, shame, self-worth, family concerns, and the impacts of difficult experiences. We work from a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach that recognizes your experiences, resilience, and the parts of yourself that have helped you survive.
What makes Paper Planes Wellness different from traditional counselling?
We believe counselling is more than a clinical process — it is a human connection. At Paper Planes Wellness, we focus on creating a space where you feel seen, heard, and understood. We combine professional training and evidence-informed approaches with compassion, curiosity, and genuine connection. We don’t believe you are a problem to be fixed; we believe healing happens through understanding, connection, and meaningful change.
Do you offer virtual counselling or in-person sessions?
Yes. Paper Planes Wellness offers secure virtual counselling throughout British Columbia, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space. In-person appointments are also available at Dovira Care Integrative Health Clinic in Coquitlam, BC.
How much does counselling cost, and do you offer direct billing or coverage options?
Counselling fees vary depending on the service and provider. Many extended health benefit plans cover counselling with a Registered Social Worker (RSW) or Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). We can provide receipts for reimbursement through your insurance provider and offer direct billing to some insurance providers. Some clients may also be eligible for coverage through programs such as FNHA, CVAP, or workplace benefits.
Do you offer sliding scale options?
At Paper Planes Wellness, we believe access to mental health support matters. We recognize that financial circumstances can vary, and we strive to make counselling as accessible as possible.
We offer a limited number of reduced-fee appointments based on availability. If cost is a barrier, please reach out and let us know — we are happy to discuss options and explore what may be possible.
How do I book an appointment?
Booking counselling starts with reaching out. You can request an appointment through our online booking system or contact us directly through email, phone or text to discuss what support you are looking for. We will help guide you through the next steps and make the process as simple and comfortable as possible.
